Shoulder arthroscopy

Dr. Desmond Soares performs arthroscopic shoulder reconstructions including acromioplasty (trimming the front of the shoulder blade), rotator cuff repair (repairing torn tendons in the shoulder) arthroscopic stabilisation, and arthroscopic capsular release.

Arthroscopic acromioplasty

Subacromial decompression

Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair

The rotator cuff tendons stabilise the shoulder in the shoulder joint. Tears may occur after and injury or with chronic overhead work. A tear will usually not heal by itself. The tear can be repaired by surgery using anchors to fix the torn tendon back to bone.

Arthroscopic shoulder stabilisation

Young patients (less than 25 years old) even after their first shoulder dislocation can have significant ongoing problems. Arthroscopic stabilisation uses keyhole surgery to reattach
the torn tissues and stabilise
the shoulder.

Arthroscopic biceps tenodesis

The biceps tendon can become frayed as it runs over the humeral head. This can cause pain radiating down the front of your arm. This can be treated by arthroscopically dividing the tendon and then reattaching it below the groove using a screw.

Frozen shoulder

Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) is a painful shoulder condition that affects diabetics and middle aged women. Early on there is severe pain caused by marked inflammation followed by loss of motion and then gradual resolution after 12 to 18 months. This long recovery period can be shortened by an arthroscopic capsular release
